This thoughtful renovation project is the result of a strong collaboration between FORA and Housing Catalyst, focused on extending the life of an existing two-story building that has long served as a vital source of affordable housing for seniors. Project goals included enhancing accessibility and comfort for it’s senior residents, and maintaining a strong sense of community.

By choosing rehabilitation over demolition, the project not only preserves the character and affordability of the property— it also prioritizes sustainability by conserving existing resources and embodied carbon, improving energy efficiency, and adding renewable energy with a new rooftop solar array.

The redesigned community room serves as a refreshed gathering space, promoting social connection and well-being. Exterior improvements include new siding, trim, and vibrant landscaping—breathing new life into the building while respecting its original design. Inside each of the 15 units, residents will enjoy brand-new kitchens and bathrooms, updated fixtures, modern lighting, upgraded HVAC systems, and high-quality interior finishes that make daily living safer and more enjoyable.
