This thoughtful renovation project is the result of a strong collaboration between FORA and Housing Catalyst, focused on extending the life of an existing two-story building that has long served as a vital source of affordable housing for seniors. Project goals included enhancing accessibility and comfort for it’s senior residents, and maintaining a strong sense of community.

By choosing rehabilitation over demolition, the project not only preserves the character and affordability of the propertyβ€” it also prioritizes sustainability by conserving existing resources and embodied carbon, improving energy efficiency, and adding renewable energy with a new rooftop solar array.

The redesigned community room serves as a refreshed gathering space, promoting social connection and well-being. Exterior improvements include new siding, trim, and vibrant landscapingβ€”breathing new life into the building while respecting its original design. Inside each of the 15 units, residents will enjoy brand-new kitchens and bathrooms, updated fixtures, modern lighting, upgraded HVAC systems, and high-quality interior finishes that make daily living safer and more enjoyable.
