Almaden ADU

Single family zones make up 78% of residentially-zoned land in California, a huge factor that once exacerbated the housing crisis. In recent years, the State has passed innovative  laws allowing subdivisions and ADUs, to promote the addition of much needed housing density in California. Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)are an innovative and effective option that empowers homeowners to create sustainable incomes that expand housing choices. Almaden ADU is a sustainable and efficient 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom ADU with a loft that increases density of a single family neighborhood while providing a greater variety of housing options in the neighborhood.

Enhancing existing homes and properties with additional dwelling units.

Almaden ADU is tucked away in the hillside, designed to elevate the existing home on the property and act as a rental unit for additional income, to be built alongside a new pool and patio being just out front. By building it into the hillside, it is more concealed from the street (not changing the look and feel of the neighborhood). Views are oriented towards the valley, overlooking the gorgeous town of Los Altos Hills, CA. The bedrooms are nestled into the hill, while a shed roof over the double-height living room is oriented to maximize solar panel efficiency.

The open concept kitchen, living, and dining area features clerestory windows for abundant light and a multi-slide pocket door for an indoor/outdoor living and dining experience. The loft provides additional area for a home office with beautiful views and fresh air from the balcony, perfect for these times we find ourselves in today.
